Story
For over 15 years, I’ve worked with LAMDA across its exams, drama school, and international operations, providing photography that captured the institution’s creativity and excellence.
In 2021, this relationship evolved into a major strategic project: the design and implementation of a £2.2 million Virtual Production suite. My role extended far beyond photography, encompassing project scoping, tender development, supplier assessment, and integration management. The result was a state-of-the-art facility that equips students with hands-on experience in the same technologies that now drive innovation in film, television, and theatre.
LAMDA – Virtual Production & Technology Integration
After photographing several projects for LAMDA, in 2021 I was invited to help realise a transformative vision: bringing cutting-edge virtual production technology into one of the UK’s leading drama schools. The project centred on installing an LED volume, motion capture systems, and associated creative technologies to prepare students for the future of stage and screen.
Drawing on my experience as a photographer, videographer, and producer on large-scale shoots, I drove every stage of the process — from shaping the bid and writing the tender to creating the marking criteria and assessing suppliers. Acting as a bridge between technology partners and the institution, I oversaw implementation, training, and integration, ensuring the systems worked seamlessly across departments and served both creative and educational needs.
The result was a £2.2 million installation, delivered on time and within budget, giving LAMDA students direct access to the same tools now used at the highest level of film, television, and theatre. Already, these facilities are reshaping how future performers, directors, and technicians approach virtual production.
This project reflects my ability to manage complex, large-scale creative and technical initiatives — balancing artistic ambition with practical delivery. By uniting production, technology, and education, I helped LAMDA take a bold step into the future of performance.
